Podcasting is all about the audio. Get the best gear you can afford to ensure your audience stays tuned and allows you to monitor your output to produce professional results.

What you may need:

• Microphone - cardioid, broadcast style microphones give great results
• Audio monitoring headphones - look for closed-back, circumaural design to reduce background noise
• Microphone studio arm w/pop filter and shockmount - position the mic from above and closer to the mouth. Pop filter for muting of plosives ('P' sounds) in close vocal applications. Shock mount isolates any movement of the microphone which may transfer unwanted noise
• Audio mixing / multi input device - great if you have more than one participant.
